How much we will pay

When you sell your Defender to Land Rovers UK it will be subjected to an extensive in-house mechanical and cosmetic restoration process. Some vehicles will require more work than others but every Land Rover that we buy will be tirelessly brought up to our market leading quality standards.

The members of our Buying Team all have many years experience of appraising and improving Land Rovers and so they can quickly and accurately appraise the condition and value of your vehicle. They will factor in the cost of any works that your vehicle requires to make it perfect and they will subsequently provide you with a fair and accurate valuation.

As a specialist we can afford to pay above average prices. However, you will usually be able to sell your Land Rover for approximately 10% more if you chose to sell it on the private markets. Only you can decide whether the convenience, safety, and promptness of our service is worth this reduction in financial return.

We only buy Land Rover Defender or Series models.

We don’t buy Land Rover Discovery, Freelander or Range Rover variations and we don’t buy any non-Land Rover vehicles.

Although we don’t mind how old or dented your Land Rover is, or how high the mileage is, it must be able to perform the challenging utility applications that Land Rovers were built for!

We are not interested in buying any vehicle that is not fit for purpose. If you know your Land Rover is structurally unsound, has significant corrosion issues, or has had previous sub-standard repairs, then we’re afraid it is not something that we can buy.

Please be completely open and honest with us when describing your vehicle. Our buyers will not miss any detail, however large or small, when they come to view your Land Rover prior to paying you for your vehicle. So to avoid delay or disappointment the more information you can provide us now the more accurate our valuation will be.

What you will need before you can proceed... (please read carefully)

We will do our very best to ensure that the process of selling your Land Rover is kept as simple and as convenient as possible for you. However, please be aware that you must meet the following criteria before you can complete our ‘sell my Land Rover Defender’ form:

1) You must be the registered keeper of the vehicle and have legal title in relation to its sale.

2) You must have already transferred any private number plate off of the vehicle and have received the new registration mark from the DVLA.

3) You must have possession of the correct V5 logbook for the vehicle.

4) You will need to make all service records and receipts, spare keys, ancillary equipment, or anything else that you think might add to the value of the vehicle, available to us when we come to meet with you.

5) You will need to be comfortable receiving payment for your vehicle via cash, debit card, or cheque.

"I’d like to share my experience of Land Rovers UK, with any prospective buyers or sellers, on this website.

On Monday 14th February I submitted my 50th Anniversary Defender on the LRUK website. I was pleased with the response via email and telephone...

We talked in general about price and I let the LRUK team know my bottom line and we arranged a viewing the following day.

They travelled from Somerset to meet me in deepest Kent and kept me informed of their progress all the way, eventually arriving at 2.00pm. They appraised ... and we re-negotiated the price. All very fair and we shook hands on a deal that suited us both. So less than 24 hours after the form was submitted the car was sold. Excellent.

With all these horror stories you hear these days about scam artists and fake money I asked them if they could come with me to the bank to pay in the money. Nothing was too much trouble and they came along to my local branch and all was paid in without any problems. They even let me drive back home for my last drive of the car.

About an hour after they had left I noticed my wallet was nowhere to be seen. I hunted high and low but couldn’t find it. I should add at this point add that it contained all my credit cards, driving license, cash, cheque books and passport. In the wrong hands the consequences could have been catastrophic. As a last resort I called Land Rovers UK and asked if they had seen it. I had left it in my old Land Rover! They sent it back by recorded delivery the following morning. Great my life was safe.

Land Rovers UK are communicator extraordinaires and having sorted the shipment they texted me the PO tracking number. I offered for them to take the cash out of my wallet to pay for the Special Delivery but they wouldn’t hear of it.

The parcel duly arrived this morning with everything as it left me. Land Rovers UK were true to their word and in this day and age that means a lot and restores my faith that there are still some good guys around.

Sorry this is a bit long winded but I feel it’s worth special mention.
