Why do we do what we do? - A thought from our CEO
Having found yourself on our website its probable that, like us, you see the world differently to most people. Life is a beautiful adventure. I personally believe that Defender is a simplistically beautiful driving machine that, within its very bones, demands the pursuit of adventure. I choose to believe in Defender, it helps me believe in myself, it helps me believe that I can go anywhere and that anything is possible.

What does Land Rovers UK do?
We build custom Land Rover Defenders for Clients in the USA, Canada and elsewhere. We sometimes have Defenders in stock but due to the bespoke nature of our vehicles we normally build to order.
How do I commission/order a Defender?
Please ring/email or book an appointment to visit the Land Rovers UK factory to discuss your requirements. Once your build specification has been agreed, we will need a 25% deposit to reserve a build slot in our very busy work schedule .
How long will my Defender take to build?
This really depends on our busy workshop schedule however the sooner you place your order the sooner you will get your bespoke Defender. On average though it's about 4 months.
Are your Defenders brand new?
Our custom Defenders are better than brand new and finished to a standard that is beyond comparison. Due to certain import regulations our vehicles for the USA are based on a 25 year old platforms, and for similar reasons our vehicles for Canada are based on 15 year old platforms, our vehicles for Africa and other territories are typically 1 - 10 years old.
Do I come up with the Defender spec and design?
You are welcome to use our
to choose your own colour scheme and specifications or you can leave it to us to use our expertise and experience to create your perfect vehicle. We enjoy working with our clients to build one-off bespoke Defenders.
Can I supply the donor vehicle?
We have a large stock of well-sourced LHD Defender 90’s and 110’s so you do not need to supply the vehicle, however you are welcome to provide your own vehicle if you wish (subject to our own inspection of it).
Do I have to visit LRUK to commission a Defender?
Although we are happy for you to visit us, it is not necessary. The ordering process can be effectively dealt with via email and/or telephone for your convenience.
What do LRUK do during a rebuild?
We reduce the vehicle to it's bare frame. We replace for new; engine, transmission, steering, brakes, suspension, wheels, tires, all services and more! The vehicle is painted panel by panel and then reassembled with brand new doors, glass, floor coverings, seating, dash trim, seals and more. At this stage we shall fit your chosen accessories.
Quality control is integral to each step. The final stage is extensive product testing involving a lengthy "shake-down" through hundreds of miles of road testing.
Do LRUK carry out any work on vehicles other than Defenders?
We only specialize in Land Rover Defenders.
What are Defenders like to service and how easy is it to get parts for them?
Servicing Defenders is very basic. Land Rovers UK has developed an extensive engineer network throughout the world who can carry out work on our clients vehicles. Parts are readily available from a large number of aftermarket suppliers.
Can LRUK build me a high end version?
Yes we can, if you don't see the options you want simply email or phone us
Are LRUK Defenders performance-enhanced?
Our trucks offer a standard performance as per their original specification through a completely re-manufactured engine. We can carry out performance modifications at an extra cost so please ask us if this is something you are interested in.
Can I add extras like a roof rack or extra wide wheel arches?

Can I see how you are getting on with my Defender during the rebuild?
We set you up with your own personal log-in to our website. This portal is updated with photographs and even video footage from the start to the finish of the build process. You will get to see YOUR Defender at every stage of production and have a permanent record of her journey!
Are LRUK Defenders road legal in the United States?
All our Defenders are 25 years old to comply with local and federal requirements so as to be exempt from usual DOT needs under "Historic" vehicle entry. What does this mean, well...
as long as the vehicle is sufficiently unaltered in identity (VIN number, original chassis, correct type of engine etc) a blanket rule applies in the U.S. that allows any 25 year plus aged vehicle to be imported without prejudice under the banner of a classic car. I know what you're thinking... who wants a 25 year old truck, right? But wait Landy lovers, all is not lost; the Defender has not really changed much in 25 years. Land Rover kind of got it right the first time around and as a result they have stuck to their iconic 'go anywhere' design. You really do have to be an enthusiast to spot the difference between one of our custom 25 year old refurbished Defenders and a well turned out 2013 model. That means, as long as you start off with a good solid machine, the only implications of buying a 25 year old plus Defender is that you may probably miss out on a few mod-cons.

Can LRUK deliver anywhere in the world?
Yes we ship almost 100 of our customized Defenders a year to all 4 corners of the globe. Our preferred shipping company will liaise with us to deliver your vehicle to you. Our Customs agents shall guide you through the entire import process with ease.
Can I pay cash on delivery?
Your Defender must be paid for in full before being shipped.
How do I pay for my Defender?
Usually by online bank transfer.
How much does a LRUK bespoke Defender cost?
Prices vary depending on the model chosen and specifications required. Please call or email us to discuss pricing.
Can I visit the LRUK factory?
Of course you can but we are so busy that visits are by appointment, or invitation, only.

What does the base price include?
The base price includes a full ground-up restoration of an authentic 25-year-old left-hand-drive Land Rover Defender (15-year-old for a Canadian import and younger for other regions), which includes:
